First, I would like to say that I am very happy that the course will cover myths and legends from all around the world. In my first year of college, I completed a mythology course in which we spent the first 14 weeks on Greek myths and weeks 15 & 16 on Rome and "the rest of the world." Our research paper for the course could be from any culture, but that was the only exposure the students got to other cultures. I have always enjoyed learning about other cultures. Since library cards (or college courses) are cheaper than airline fare, my best way to do that is to understand their myths and stories. Folklore tells us where we came from and explains so much of who we are today.

So, I am quite eager to explore the the stories and cultures of other ancient peoples. Specifically, I am looking forward to the Raven Myth's of the Alaskan Inuits and the Russian fairy tales.
